ENGL 6999: Professionalization is a job placement course.  In the course, you will learn about the academic job market and, to a lesser extent, other careers in the humanities. You will learn how to read job ads, learn and practice interviewing strategies, learn about negotiating job offers, and create a portfolio of materials that you can use to apply for positions.

If you are a 5th or 6th year graduate student intending to apply for jobs in Fall 2023 you must register for this course to receive departmental help for your search.  Students who take this course should be able to discuss their dissertations in detail, meaning they should already be well-into dissertation writing (not just beginning to write).
