In this course, students will explore a range of professional writing genres, from resumes and cover letters to technical reports and grant writing. Class will be organized as part seminar-style (discussion of readings and evaluation of sample texts) and part workshop (in-class time dedicated to writing projects, both individual writing time and peer review groups). We will also have at least one opportunity to write for an outside audience, and will have a few guest visits from people who work professionally as technical/professional writers.
