Park Hall 0136

The goal of this course is to help English graduate students improve their academic writing skills to the point where they can successfully produce a major literary research writing project.  Students will conduct research on their own individual literary research projects, develop the skills they need to handle complex writing tasks, learn to write for different academic venues and audiences, and strengthen their critical revision skills. This profession-based approach will include learning strong writing habits, discussing how to publish, how to present at conferences, how to craft an effective CV, and (depending on student interest) how to apply for humanities grants.  The course will culminate with students producing a substantial literary research project, like a thesis/dissertation chapter (or two) or an essay submitted for publication.
