This course will introduce you to more than three centuries of British and Irish literature, writing that entertained, instructed, and challenged its readers—and will do the same for us—as it represented social life and identities, imagined and critiqued the world, and gave a sense of how it might feel to be a human being in the world at a particular place and time.
