ENGL 6911 is a three-hour practicum that is taken by all Teaching Assistants during their first fall semester of composition teaching in the University of Georgia First-year Writing Program. The Student Learning Outcomes (SLO) for the course are:

• To understand the structure and features of UGA’s FYW Program
• To understand, apply, and evaluate the theory and practice behind FYW pedagogy
• To create, analyze and evaluate your personal FYW philosophy and practice
• To learn about finding and using external UGA resources
• To understand, apply, evaluate, and create methods of writing assessment

• To create a cohort of colleagues who can support your teaching
